Sandy grew up in a family of professional musicians so music has always been an important part of her life. She has been teaching both piano and voice for over 30 years and still loves it! She began studying piano at the age of 5. She started accompanying choral groups in the 4th grade. She accompanied all of the choirs in high school and continued in college as a piano performance major. While attending the University of California at Fullerton, she added another passion to her studies, theatre arts. So her interests in music expanded to include theatre .
After leaving school, she moved to Los Angeles to start her career. She did numerous stage productions and got her Actors Equity card in an off-Broadway production that had moved to LA. She then did musical direction for that show in San Francisco. After forming friendships with the New York cast, she decided to make the move to the East Coast. In NYC she continued her career in theater, but kept being drawn back into music. So she returned to teaching and accompanying, as well as vocal coaching.
After marrying, she and her husband decided to move to Connecticut to raise a family. There she maintained a successful music studio and accompanied for several schools. She studied with, and accompanied for members of the NYC opera. She also has served as Music Minister for churches in the area and developed a love for conducting choirs. All of these pursuits have only made her love of the performing arts stronger!
